Jade 7

Jade 7 and the first layout for the large project I am doing for my sister and future brother in law.  I took sketch from Scrapbook steals weekly sketch challenge (see it HERE) and used it a jumping off point for this layout. I only used a few of the elements because its really hard to make a 12x12 into a 6x6. I really loved this picture of them from around 2007. This is the first of many for their awesome pictures.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep coming back to see the mini album come to life.

Step one complete!!

Well here it is, in all its glory 43 chipboard pieces covered by hand cut beautiful paper. I must say my hand was cramped for a week after doing this and I am pretty sure I have a permanent indentation in my finger from holding my craft knife. I have a love/hate relationship with my craft kinfe. I am doing this huge project for a very special person in my life. Now I just have to start assembling the pictures and embellishments and figure out how I am going to make it become a book. I have a small hole punched at the top that I plan on using for the binding but not sure how it is going to work after all.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come back. I will be posting more pictures as this project progresses.

Jade1

I must say it is so much easier when you have the sketches printed off compaired to trying to go off a small picture on my iphone.  Here is another intruptation of a sketch that can be found on Scrapbook steals (here) I have so many picutres laying around and sometimes I start to assemble a layout even before I have the picture picked out. This was one of those layouts, I love how this just came together so fast and then fit this picture.

Well thanks for stopping by and hope to see you around again soon.

Jade 2 and PGCB challenge #23

I am trying to get caught up on sketches and pictures all at the same time. I have printed off about 35 sketches and am slowly making my way through them.

Here is my take on Jade 2 from Scrapbook steals, you can see the original post here. I also incorporated the challenge from The Paper Girls Challenge blog (see their challenges here)

I recently cut all my hair off for Locks of Love, this layout highlights my super long braid that I sent off to be made into a wig for someone who is battling a disease that would take their hair away. I must say I was really nervous going into get my hair cut, but I am enjoying the end result.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back again.

Getting closer

43 pages, 43 pages! What was I thinking. I know, I wanted to give my sister and her wonderful fiance a gift they will forever cherish. There is the start of the pages I have managed to complete, 18 out of 43, its not a bad start. I am hand cutting each pages paper and then adhering with glue. I only have 24 more to go.

Thanks for coming by, please stop back by to see the progress.

Jade 6 - Tractor

Another week and another sketch, here is my version of Scrapbook Steals Jade 6, see the original post here.

I had this picture of Caleb, my oldest, from around Halloween. We went to Rutledge-Wilson Farm to get pumpkins, which as you can tell by its name is also a working farm. They had these tractors out for display and I had to get a picture of him on one of them. He hated it but knew I wouldn't give up until he got on and let me take a picture. It sure made a great layout.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you come back again.

Jade 5 - Locks of Love

I have been growing my hair for about 5 years. My son is now 3 years old,  I managed to keep long hair all through his his baby years but started to get annoyed with it in the last year.  I have been talking about getting my hair cut for locks of love since May 2012. I finally got to the point I was okay with cutting my long curly hair off. I made the appointment, went with my Mother in law and my kids. I said a few choice words when the actually cutting happened, it was strange to just hack my hair off in one fail swoop.

I used the Jade 5 sketch from these pictures. See the original post here  on the Scrapbook Steals blog.

Calendar

Every year I try and come up with really good idea for homemade gifts for family members. I make an ornament for everyone each year and them I choose one to get a gift just for them. This year I picked my Mother in law. We are moving to Denver in June and I know she will miss us terribly so I wanted to give her a little piece of me.  I have been scrapping for about three years now. She loves everything I make so I decided to give her a small calendar that can act as her first scrapbook. The great thing about being a crazy scrapper like I am I have tons of supplies for making gifts for people has minimal out of pocket expense.

Scrapbook Steals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Scrapbook Steals featuring Kiwi Lane Designs blog hop. I really don't even know how to describe the excitement I had when Kerys asked me to be a part of the hop. I have been an avid follower of Scrapbook Steals, not only for their wonderful scrapbook supplies but for their great inspiration. Feel free to check back on my past post featuring the Midweek Mojo sketches from the very beginning.

You should have arrived here from Laurie LaRiviere's blog and if you didn't head back to the starting point at the Scrapbook Steals Blog
I hope you enjoy the projects I prepared for you as much as I enjoyed using the template to create them.
For the hop I was given the Paisley Place mini set of templates.
I just love the large and small curves of the set.

(Templates used Paisley Place 1A )

(Templates used Paisley Place 3A/B and 2B )

(Templates used Pasiley 1B and Abbie Road 1A)

Using Large Tag #6 for the matting of the small photo on the top left, traced it on both ends to make a very cool bracket effect. I also dug out my i-Rock.

(Templates used Paisley Place 2B )

For this card, I used Paisley Place 2A as a mask for my embossing ink which created a look of a snowy hill.

Thank you for stopping by and make sure to come back on Monday when I revel the whole calendar.

Quick Card

My office gets worst co-workers of the year. We completely forgot the birthday of one of the girls, who has been working at my office for 20+ years. So I whipped up a quick card, using this cute Bee to bring across the "belated" part of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you come back on Friday. I promise it will be worth the wait.

Major project

I like to give gifts to people that will have lasting meaning, so I have taken on a huge project. This picture shows the steps I have to take.
1) trace the chipboard piece onto the square piece
2) use my craft knife to cut the traced piece
3) glue the paper to each piece.

I have 23 chipboard pieces that I am using for this project. Each will have a picture on it and embellishments. I can't wait to show you this as it progresses. Only problem I have to figuring out how to bind it all together.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to come back on Friday for a special post.
